Tweens

Due to current health and safety measures related to COVID-19, our CONNECT and Club 456 programs will not be operating this fall, but we will resume when it is safe to do so.

CONNECT – Grades 5 & 6

Connect is a Bible-centered class for preteens. Tweens will see how individual stories connect into larger themes that span all of Scripture. We alternate between the Old and New Testament each year. The first unit this year is entitled “Beginnings” and focuses on the book of Genesis.  Room AH-203

Every 5th Sunday we have an all church event for Little Lambs, Lighthouse and Connect

Community Protection Program

The purpose of the Community Protection Program (CPP) is to protect children, youth, and endangered adults from abuse. Rooted in written policy, and under the oversight of Session (DPC governing body), essential tenets of the CPP include:

  • Compliance with state and federal laws regarding abuse protection
  • State and federal clearances for staff and volunteers, repeated every 5 years
  • Standards of Conduct, as well as Best Practices specific to each area of ministry
  • Mandatory reporting of abuse or suspected abuse to state authorities
  • Ongoing training of staff and volunteers on abuse awareness, as well as their responsibilities under the CPP

Outside organizations that use DPC facilities are required to implement a program similar to the CPP, which complies with all state and federal laws. If you have questions, please contact dpc@dtownpc.org. If you would like to get involved in our youth program, CPP is the first step.  Please contact the Church Office for the next CPP training dates.

Club 456

Wednesdays 5:30-7:15

Club 456 is a youth group for kids in 4th, 5th and 6th grade where we play fun games, learn about God, share a meal together, and do cool activities.  We meet weekly from September to May and cover a variety of topics that matter most to our tweens.  We start each session with an icebreaker (we always have new faces and visiting friends), and then move on to a short discussion–a MINIstry– where we connect the things we care about to our lives in Christ and work on ways to be more engaged with the things that matter: being kind, thinking about others, taking care of the environment–the good things!  Parent volunteers make large meals that we share and then we move on to activities, games, crafts, projects, you name it!  We also take time each year to focus on mission, including our annual Mini Photo Shoot Fundraiser and our collaborations with organizations such as Rolling Harvest and Feed My Starving Children.

At Club 456, we emphasize food, fun, friendship and faith!
