Fall Mission Challenge!

“What a joy to resume hands on mission this summer! Thanks to so many of you who participated in the Summer Mission Challenge – providing sit down meals for the homeless at the Community Meal, lunches and showers for those in need, beginning to build the Habitat House that Faith Built, assisting at Care and Share, and helping and donating over 10,000 pounds of food for local food pantries! The Fall Mission Challenge is ready for your help – find a project that interests you and invite a friend to join you in mission! There are so many different opportunities to get involved and give back – perfect for groups, families, and students looking for those volunteer hours needed for graduation!”

– Mary Lee Reiff, Mission Committee Moderator

Feed My Starving Children (Sunday, October 10)

DPC and The Anchor Church in Wrightstown team up once again to combat global hunger!

We will return to Delaware Valley University, 700 E. Butler Ave., at 9:30 am on October 10. Our normal Sunday worship service at 9:30 will be held back at the church during this time, so we are encouraging everyone to choose whichever option works best for you and your family. Those attending worship in the Sanctuary will be able to pray for those attending the Feed My Starving Children event and we will all be together in spirit!

If you’ve never been to a meal packing event organized by the Central Bucks MobilePack you are in for a memorable experience. It’s a mix of mission work and praise – all within a high-energy atmosphere of laughter and fun.

Meals on Wheels of Central Bucks County (Weekdays of your choosing)
Since 1972, Meals on Wheels of Central Bucks County has been delivering meals to homebound people.  Volunteers are needed for two positions:

1) Pantry Aides work from 9 to 11 am at the Doylestown Senior Center.  You dish food into individual serving containers and put together sandwiches and other items (salad and dessert) which are offered to clients and prepare the route delivery bags for the drivers.

2) Delivery Drivers come at 10:30 to pick up the food bags and then drive their own vehicles to 4-6 homes to deliver the meals.  Delivery usually takes about an hour to hour and a half.  Drivers return to the Senior Center to drop off the delivery bags.

Most volunteers commit to twice a month.  If you are interested in helping, please contact Alyce or Mary at the Meals on Wheels office at 215-345-6065.

Rolling Harvest / Food Gleaning (2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month)
Many farmers in our area donate produce they can’t use to food pantries or grow food especially for charitable organizations. Every Saturday there are opportunities to volunteer. Rolling Harvest works at Gravity Hill Farm in Lambertville from 9am-11am and the Carversville Farm Foundation in Buckingham harvests food for the Bucks County Opportunity Council’s pantries from 9 am – 12 pm.

While you are welcome to help at either site, DPC volunteers will be meeting at Carversville Farm Foundation to volunteer with weeding and harvesting on the 2nd and/or 4th Saturday of the month since it is closer to DPC.  We will meet at the farm. For more information and to sign up: bit.ly/DPC-CF
Dates: October 9, October 23
