Waste, Race, and a Matthew 25 Environment

The community is invited to join us in this special four-week class presented by DPC’s Peace & Justice and Adult Education Committees. We will examine the narratives surrounding our current waste disposal and recycling systems and their function in ordering environmental perception. Within these systems, waste remains hidden, while certain minority communities experience greater and disproportionate health risks. We will also examine the role of the church in addressing these issues.

The classes will be held on Zoom each Sunday from April 25 through May 16 at 11 am. You are welcomed to participate in all four classes or attend those that fit your schedule or interests.

The program is part of our denomination’s Matthew 25 initiative, which is guided by DPC’s stated focus of dismantling racism and its intersectionality with poverty. As our church continues to explore these important issues of environmental crisis and racial justice, we hope you can become part of the conversation as we learn, grow, and take action together.
