Embark

Embark is the name of our 2020 and 2021 Stewardship Initiative. We are using a One Fund model again which invites our members and friends to make a two-year pledge to fully fund all of the ministries of our church.

We invite you to set out on this adventure with us. Open your hearts and minds to the movement of the Holy Spirit in your life and pray for clarity as to how God wants you to respond. While none of us knows where this will lead, it is clear that for it to unfold we must set out together. We look forward to traveling together as we Embark towards that faithful and exciting future.

In addition to our Stewardship Initiative, DPC also supports many initiatives of the PC(USA) through Special Offerings throughout the year.

Alternative Ways to Give:

  • Money from an individual retirement account can be donated to charity. What’s more, if you’ve reached the age where you need to take required minimum distributions (RMDs) from your traditional IRAs, you can avoid paying taxes on the RMD by donating that money to charity. This type of donation is called a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).
  • Gifts/donations to DPC qualify as eligible grants from your Donor Advised funds. A Donor Advised fund is a little like a personal charitable savings account. A donor creates an account and makes a contribution of cash, stock, or other assets to the fund. When ready, you would make a request to have funds distributed directly to DPC.
  • Gifts of appreciated stock or other investments. By donating stock that has appreciated for more than a year, you are actually giving more than if you sold the stock and then make a cash donation. If you donate stock directly to a charity, there is no capital gains tax to pay.

We encourage you to discuss these possibilities with your financial advisor.
